Today, we feature the wedding of Andrew and Maya, decorated in black and white, with a dash of gold. And it is nothing short of stunning as you will see in the photographs here, captured by Anna Rina Photography.

Andrew and Maya’s gorgeous reception is a vision with black and gold accents against a white backdrop.

Thank you, dear Andrew and Maya for sharing this most treasured life event with us. Their wedding reception was held in Kuala Lumpur at Cyberview Resort & Spa.

Our beautiful couple brought their vision to life with the help of their capable wedding planner, Cheryl of Chic Occasions. Bespoke stationery (lots of it!), created by Joyce of Thistle Cards, played a significant role in truly personalizing their wedding, adding much fun and flair to the design and aesthetic aspects of their big day. At the start of their planning process, Andrew and Maya had decided on a black and white theme. They loved the boldness of such a clean-cut and defining theme, and through their extensive research, saw how classy and stylish it could be. Along the way, they added a third colour to soften the palette and make the theme a little more “rich and royal”.

Gold is definitely one of the top trending colours in the design these days, from fashion to interior design and everything in between. Applying it cleverly (and with some constraint) can easily elevate a space or ambiance from pretty to pretty awesome.

Maya had attended a friend’s wedding and loved the decor, which she later found out was by Wishing Tree. She asked her wedding planner Cheryl about us, and was able to get in touch with Lily quickly. Maya and Andrew were very involved in every single detail of their wedding, working closely with Cheryl and fine-tuning their list to what was possible to achieve within the budget. We provided detailed sketches of their desired tablescapes, including a mock table set-up so that our couple knew what to expect.

While our couple knew what to expect, their family and friends had absolutely no idea. We love this element of total surprise that Andrew and Maya sprung on their guests! “We kept the theme and decorations completely secret from them,” says Maya.

She adds, “I remember the moment when Andrew and I walked into the room before the guests did, so that we could see the place alone. It was so beautiful and breathtaking, we were grinning from ear to ear! It was definitely a once in a lifetime moment and we will remember it forever. Throughout the evening, our family and guests were coming up to us and saying how they had to stop at the entrance and take it all in.”

We are happy to see more and more wedding receptions using long dining tables in Malaysia. It just extends our canvas for a lot more possibilities in terms of design, which in turn allows you to achieve more for your dream wedding. Here, Maya and Andrew chose to add round tables among the long ones.

What a great idea to place your bar at the front of the hall or near the bridal table. It is easier for guests and the celebrated couple to mingle, plus it will always look like the party is where the couple’s at!

Another view of the bridal table. Right at the front is a black and white checkered dance floor that Cheryl set up for them.

Gold accents in the lightning, furniture, and of course, the beautiful wedding cake custom-designed by Gateauxlicious.

Andrew and Maya’s wedding cake is a fine example of the “less is more” philosophy, don’t you think? Exceedingly stylish in its simple and elegant design while incorporating the couple’s monogram and favourite phalaenopsis orchids, and skilfully striking that balance of lines and textures. The mother-daughter team at Gateauxlicious did a great job!

We have a few more photos from this beautiful night…

How thoughtful of Andrew and Maya to provide tired feet with comfy flip flops for dancing!

Andrew and Maya, engaged in much love and laughter throughout the night.

“Wishing Tree helped make our dream wedding a reality. Everything we wanted was executed perfectly and that was extremely thrilling for us. We greatly appreciated the professionalism they showed throughout the process, and the promptness in replying emails and correspondences. Every detail was explained to us so we knew what we were getting, and the sketches and mock-up table arrangement were superb. Special thanks to Lily for understanding what we wanted and revising the budget several times as we made changes along the way. We cannot imagine not having worked with Wishing Tree. For our wedding, we got exactly what we wanted and more!” – Andrew & Maya
